China Sodium Times Joins Thai Partners to Develop Thailand’s School PV Market

2026-05-22
As China Sodium Times’ core platform for Southeast Asia, Sift Energy leads market coordination, Energy Storage technology supply and supply chain support for the initiative. Leveraging China Sodium Times’ sodium-ion battery technology tailored to Thailand’s hot and humid climate, it delivers reliable energy storage solutions to ensure stable operation of school PV systems.
Thailand’s school PV market holds huge potential. Out of about 70,000 schools nationwide, over 30,000 are medium and large-sized, with a PV penetration rate of only 7%–10% and an exploitable capacity exceeding 5 GWp. The cooperation targets public schools requiring 350 kW to 1 MW systems, adopting the proven on-site private wire PPA model for self-consumption of clean power and cost reduction.

The flagship project is at Sathit Kasert High School in Bangkok, with two phases totaling 1.43 MWp and a total investment of USD 660,000, scheduled for commercial operation in September. The model will then be replicated nationwide.
This partnership marks a key milestone for Sift Energy in expanding Southeast Asia’s PV and energy storage market. Moving forward, Sift Energy will continue leveraging China Sodium Times’ technological strengths, deepen cooperation with local partners, scale up Thailand’s school PV projects, and explore more renewable energy applications across the region to support ASEAN’s renewable energy goals.
